As I was researching the price of lots in the Heber City and Utah County areas for myself and several clients, I came across this map which displays the rising land prices across the United States over the past 40 years. The data was taken from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy (in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison). The map was provided by Howmuch.net.
It is interesting to see how much land has appreciated. Take into consideration that this displays the land only and excludes the improvements such as the home built on the land. This just goes to show that the price of land is a huge component and most likely the biggest culprit in the affordable housing crisis this country is experiencing right now.
